DAL - Dutch as an Additional Language
What is DAL - Dutch as an Additionnal Language?
Dutch language and culture is taught in groups 2-8 to pupils who have a sufficient command of the English language. Our pupils are given as many opportunities as possible to learn as much as possible about the Dutch language and culture through trips and visits outside of school.
Our DAL teachers (Dagmar & Isabel) work in small groups with the children and their main focus is on speaking, listening and culture. During the more advanced lessons they will focus on reading and writing as well.
Dagmar and Isabel also put a special stress on citizenship by going on trips, as well as having discussions in class. During the special festival Sinterklaas, they go shopping and bake the special ‘kruidnoten’.
Everything is done to ensure that the learning is interactive (e.g learning about nature through gardening and tasting lessons - ‘smaaklessen’.).
