Information about admissions

Are you moving soon to Rotterdam or do you live here and are you considering our school for this school year or the next?
Applications for this school year (starting in September 2025) are currently opened.
All new applications are automatically placed on a waiting list and the admission officer can inform you at the time of application on where you stand on the waiting list.
The following groups are currently full: Group 2, 5, 6 and 7 (updated 1 October 2025)
For any questions you might have about our school, the curriculum it offers and its admission procedure, please check the information provided under the various headers.
If you wish to know more about our admission process, please click on Admissions process.
Alternatively, feel free to contact our admissions officer. Veronique will do her best to answer any questions you might have.

Information on registering for group 0 or 1 (children turning 4 years old)

Welcome to our school! Your child may attend primary school from the age of four. You can contact our school and enquire about registration at our school any time (your child does not need to have a specific age). Depending on your child’s date of birth, he/she will join our group 0 or 1 (refer to our page admission process for information on how we place the children in groups). You can make an appointment with our admissions officer any time to visit our school. The official start of registration will depend on your child’s date of birth (due to the high mobility of our families and the admissions criteria, we cannot accept applications too much in advance).
Registration steps
Getting to know us first
Would you like to get to know our school first? You can contact our admissions officer (veroniquez@harbouribsr.nl) and arrange for a visit.
Registration
If you choose to register your child at our school, we will send you an admission enquiry form where you can answer questions about your child. For example, when your child's birthday is, where your child lives, when you arrived to the Netherlands, and whether your child needs any additional support. We call this the parental duty to provide information.
Once we receive your written application, we will begin processing it. As a school, we take six weeks to decide whether we will enroll your child. We use this time to determine whether our school is the right place for your child. In our school guide and our school Student support offer, you can read about the additional support we can offer your child. You can find the school guide and Student support profile here: .
In rare cases, six weeks may not be enough time to make a decision. In that case, we will take a maximum of four additional weeks. If we need more time, we will inform you in writing. However, we always try to let you know within six weeks whether we can enroll your child.
Duty of Care
From the moment you register your child in writing at our school, and we are your first-choice school, we have a duty of care. This means we must find a suitable place for your child at our school or at another school in Rotterdam. Our school will usually be a suitable placement. If not, we will help you find a suitable place for your child at another school. Sometimes the partnership for Suitable Primary Education (PPO) also assists us with this. We will inform you if we need to contact the PPO.
We have no duty of care:
• If our school or the group you are registering your child for is full and we have indicated that we are full on our website or school prospectus. (Currently - October 2025 - our groups 2, 5, 6 and 7 are full)
• If you do not respect the foundation of our school. The foundation is the educational philosophy of our education. The details can be found on our website here:
To properly investigate whether our school is the right place for your child, you as parents have a duty to provide information. This means that you must tell us if your child needs additional support. If you do not wish to share this information with us, we may choose not to process your application.
Waiting List
Our school has a waiting list for the full groups that are mentioned above.
Priority is given in the following order:
1. Siblings of children who already attend our school
2.- New families recently arrived in the Netherlands (or arriving soon) whose children fit our admission criteria
3.Other applicants.
Admission criteria:
Details about our admission criteria can be found here
Information on Registering for Lateral Entry
Do you want to register your child at our school while your child is already attending another school? This is called lateral entry. The same rules apply to lateral entry at our school as to registration for Group  0 or 1.
We have made additional arrangements in the municipality of Rotterdam. If you register your child with us in writing, we will contact the school your child is currently attending. We do this because we have a duty of care and must determine whether our school is the right place for your child. Even with lateral entry, we try to let you know within 6 weeks whether your child will be enrolled. Sometimes we need more time, in which case we will allow a maximum of 4 additional weeks. In that case, we will also inform you in writing. If our school is a suitable location, we will enroll your child permanently.
